Columbus, OH – AEC Unites brought together architects, engineers, contractors, and industry partners for its Second Annual Industry Mixer, hosted by AEC Unites member Moody Nolan in Columbus, Ohio. The event, held during Construction Inclusion Week, created a dynamic platform for meaningful dialogue around expanding access, visibility, and opportunity across the AEC industry.
The highly anticipated networking event featured opening remarks from Jason T. Jenkins, Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the City of Columbus, who set the tone for the evening by illuminating the city’s strategic vision for inclusive economic growth through meaningful partnership and community engagement.
Joanne S. Saunders Brooks, Esq., newly appointed Executive Director of AEC Unites, addressed attendees with her vision for 2026, outlining plans to further develop the AEC Unites ecosystem of top-tier industry leaders to provide enhanced access to dealflow and talent. Her remarks emphasized the organization’s commitment to strengthening pathways for sustainable growth among member firms.

The evening’s centerpiece featured a dynamic panel discussion moderated by industry leaders Jeanna Hondel of Ascension Construction Solutions and Patrick McCann of Google. Their candid exchange on navigating complex industry relationships, supplier diversity, and building mutually beneficial partnerships across business sectors sparked engaging dialogue that resonated throughout the packed venue.
“This evening exemplified what AEC Unites is all about—creating spaces where authentic partnerships form and meaningful collaboration takes root,” said Deryl McKissack, Founder of AEC Unites and CEO of McKissack and McKissack. “I encourage all members to remain united by our common goal to expand access, visibility, and opportunity across our network as we continue to deliver landmark projects.”
The event drew dozens of professionals whose interactions extended well beyond traditional networking. Attendees engaged in spontaneous brainstorming sessions, formed new partnerships on the spot, and exchanged genuine commitments to future collaboration. Seasoned industry veterans shared insights alongside emerging talent, creating opportunities for mentorship and fresh perspectives on longstanding industry challenges.
These weren’t surface-level interactions—they were the foundation of meaningful partnerships, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative ventures extending well beyond the evening.
